DOLE: More Filipinos are employed this year

(Eagle News)–The Department of Labor and Employment said more Filipinos are now employed this year.

According to Labor Secretary Silvestre Bello III, based on the October 2018 Labor Force Survey  by the Philippine Statistics Authority, 826,000 jobs were generated for this year.

Bello said based on the survey, 41.160 million were employed in the country.

He said the figure was two percent higher than the one registered in 2017.

According to Bello, the continuous improvement in emoloyment was because of “increased job opportunities in various sectors, such as the Build Build Build infrastructure program of the administration.”

He noted that “more workers are now enjoying security of tenure.”

A DOLE statement said 411,449 workers have been regularized as of October 2018.

Of the number, DOLE said 70 percent have been voluntarily regularized by their employers.

It said the remaining 30 percent were regularized after a DOLE inspection.
