DOJ summons Elago, Villarin, Colmenares over police raps for alleged abduction of student

(Eagle News)–The Department of Justice has summoned two former lawmakers, a congresswoman and several others over the charges filed by the police for the alleged abduction of a student who became an activist.

DOJ Assistant State Prosecutor Christine Perolino ordered Kabataan Partylist Rep. Sarah Elago, Makabayan and National Union of People’s Lawyers chair Neri Colmenares, former Akbayan Rep. Tom Villarin, Anakbayan Youth spokesperson Alex Danday, and Anakbayan chairperson Vencer Crisostomo to appear before a preliminary probe into the trafficking, child abuse, crime against humanity charges filed by the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group over the alleged kidnapping of Alicia Lucena.

Lucena, senior high school student of Far Eastern University, has denied she had been kidnapped, and said she deliberately left her home and joined Anakbayan.

Also ordered to appear in the hearings slated on Aug. 27, and Sept. 10 and 24 at the DOJ at 2 p.m. were Charie Del Rosario, Bianca Gacos, Jayroven Villafuente Balais, and Einstein Recedes.

Earlier, the mother of Lucena appeared before the Senate panel on public order and dangerous drugs and appealed for the leftist groups to release her daughter. Moira Encina
