DOJ indicts Davidson Bangayan, several others

The Department of Justice indicted Davidson Bangayan and several others for rice trading.

(Eagle News)—The Department of Justice has found probable cause to charge Davidson Bangayan and several others for alleged manipulation of rice prices.

In a resolution dated Nov. 5, the DOJ said Bangayan, whom it also found guilty for the unauthorized use of the alias “David Tan,” and Elizabeth Faustino used “multipurpose cooperatives as dummies in bidding for the importation of rice.”

David Lim, Judilyne Lim, Eleanor Rodriguez and Leah Echeveria, the DOJ said, also resorted to the same modus operandi.

The DOJ said the two groups operated independently of each other.

“Article 186 of the Revised Penal Code prohibits certain monopolies and combinations in restraint of trade,” the DOJ said.
