DOJ expects judgment in Maguindanao massacre case before Nov. 23

(Eagle News)–The Department of Justice expects a judgment in the Maguindanao massacre case before Nov. 23, exactly ten years after the crime was committed.

Justice Secretary Menardo Guevarra said this was because the trial was already completed on July 17.

He said both parties were given until Aug. 15  to “submit simultaneously” their respective memorandum or written summation.

According to Guevarra, after this,  the case shall be considered as submitted for decision, with or without the memoranda of the parties.

“The DOJ expects that a judgment will be rendered before the 10th anniversary of the infamous massacre on 23 november 2019, and that justice will finally be served,” Guevarra said. With reports from Moira Encina
