DOJ: Espinosa Sr. yet to apply for state protection

(Eagle News)– Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Thursday said that Albuera, Leyte Mayor Rolando Espinosa Sr. has yet to apply for state protection in exchange for spilling the drug connections of his son, alleged drug lord Kerwin Espinosa.

According to Aguirre, Espinosa have not filed for a formal request to be admitted to Witness Protection Program (WPP) of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

If Espinosa applies for state protection, his statements would go under scrutiny by WPP staff.

In a news conference, Espinosa mentioned several police officers, members of Congress, and a senator among the cohorts of Kerwin. He also called for his son to surrender to authorities.
