DOJ acquires bank records linked to NBP narco trade

(Eagle News)– Justice Secretary Vitaliano Aguirre II on Thursday (September 22) revealed that the bank transaction records involved with illegal drug trade inside the New Bilibid Prison (NBP) are now in the possession of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

The said records were turned over to Aguirre by Anti-Money Laundering Council (AMLC) representatives.

“We will ask for verification of many other bank accounts,” the justice secretary said.
Aguirre lauded the records, though did not gave any hints if the documents would show the exchange of money between drug lords and Senator Leila De Lima.
P1 billion worth of funds were allegedly involved in the illegal transactions.
The House of Representatives already started the hearing on drug proliferation inside NBP, with witnesses ranging from high-profile inmates to officials who allegedly benefited from the narcotics trade.
De Lima has maintained denial to all of accusations against her.
