DOH verifying number of staff members being quarantined in two hospitals

(Eagle News)–The Department of Health is verifying reports hundreds of medical personnel were quarantined in two hospitals for being exposed to the coronavirus disease 2019.

In a radio interview on Monday, March 23, Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said based on his information about the quarantine of over 500 staff members of the UST Hospital in Manila and close to 150 staff of The Medical City in Pasig City,  “sinama rin ‘yung clerks, residents at interns.”

“Siyempre marami ‘yun. Aalamin ko. Dapat ‘yung ika-quarantine mo ‘yung close contact,” he said.

Earlier,  TMC president and chief executive officer Dr. Eugenio Jose Ramos said   residents and fellows, 144 personnel — 95 nurses, 13 residents and fellows, 12 emergency room physicians and 24 house staff were placed under a 14-day quarantine as of Saturday.

The UST hospital said it had placed under quarantine 530.

“Pinapaverify ko. Ngayon ko lang narinig ‘yung ganun kadami. Pailan-ilan lang ang kina-quarantine sa DOH hospitals,” he added.
