DOH reports 6,414 more COVID-19 cases; PHL total now at 819,164

(Eagle News) — Philippine COVID-19 cases reached 819,164 on Wednesday, April 7, after the Department of Health reported 6,414 additional cases.

According to DOH data, of the total cases, 158,701 were active.

Of these, 97.5 percent were mild, 1.2 percent asymptomatic, 0.5 percent critical, 0.5 percent were severe, and 0.3 percent were moderate.

Recoveries rose to 646,404, including the 163 additional ones.

The COVID-19 death toll also rose, now at 14,059, with the addition of 242 deaths.

Several areas are on an extended enhanced community quarantine (ECQ) until April 11.  The ECQ first took effect on March 29 amid a surge in COVID-19 cases in recent weeks.

Apart from Metro Manila, Cavite, Laguna, Rizal, and Bulacan comprise the NCR Plus area where the extended ECQ is in effect.

Under the ECQ, the movement of people is again limited.
