DOH: Filipino infected with COVID-19 recovers

PHL records two additional COVID-19 cases recorded, bringing number to 142

(Eagle News)–The Department of Health has announced the recovery of the first Filipino 2019 coronavirus disease case.

In a statement, the DOH said patient 14, a 46-year-old male who was admitted on March 5 in Makati Medical Center and tested positive on March 9, now tested negative for COVID-19.

He had started exhibiting symptoms on Feb. 25.

He is now asymptomatic.

The DOH reported two additional COVID-19 cases too, bringing the total confirmed cases to 142.

It did not provide additional detail though.

“While this is a very welcome development, there is no reason for us to be complacent. In order to contain the virus, we may also need to extend the quarantine to other areas in the country,” Health Secretary Francisco Duque III said.

“We need the public to cooperate with us now more than ever and serve as our partners in ensuring that COVID-19 is put to a halt. Let us all act fast and now,” Duque added.

Earlier, the DOH said patients 1 and 3 have recovered.

They have returned to China.
