DOH assures that cholera will not spread in evacuation centers in Iligan City 

ILIGAN CITY, Philippines (Eagle News) – The Department of Health (DOH) has assured that cholera will not spread in the evacuation centers in Iligan City.

According to the DOH-Region 10, although some of the evacuees suffered from diarrhea, nausea and stomach pain, and they were positively affected by cholera, they were immediately taken to the hospital for treatment.  The patients were already released on June 3 and 5.

DOH-10 Regional Director Nimfa Torrizo also pointed out that they are focusing on the health of evacuees to prevent a cholera outbreak.

The steps being done to prevent cholera includes water testing, monitoring of portalets, proper disposal of waste and drainage systems.
