DOH: All patients under probe, being monitored for COVID-19 should stay at home

(Eagle News) — The Department of Health on Thursday, March 26, “forcefully” reiterated that all patients under investigation and being monitored for the coronavirus disease 2019 stay at home.

“The (DOH) forcefully reiterates that all PUIs and PUMs must stay at home. The public safety relies on everyone’s discipline in abiding by our quarantine protocols to protect the public, especially our health workers and frontline(rs) from exposure,” the agency said.

The DOH also noted Health Secretary Francisco Duque III’s denial of allegations of “any intervention on behalf of certain individuals to coerce the Makati Medical Center to act contrary to its policies.”

The DOH issued the statement a day after Senator Koko Pimentel admitted he accompanied his pregnant wife to the hospital, even after he exhibited symptoms of the disease.

Duque was accused of calling MMC Medical Director Saturnino Javier to ask him to accommodate Pimentel’s wife in the Makati hospital, an allegation Javier has denied.

Pimentel later tested positive for COVID-19, and has since apologized over the breach in the hospital’s safety protocol.
