The Department of National Defense on Wednesday, Sept. 5, maintained it could initiate court-martial proceedings against Senator Antonio Trillanes IV in connection with the Oakwood Mutiny and the Manila Peninsula Siege.
According to Atty. Richard Patrict Rubin, chief of the DND’s legal affairs service, Trillanes’ case, after all, was within the jurisdiction of a military court martial since he supposedly violated the Articles of War 96 and 97 when he was a soldier.
The mutiny took place in 2003, while the siege took place in 2007.
According to DND spokesperson Arsenio Andolong, they were slated to meet with the Senate leadership for the turnover of Trillanes to military custody.
