“Dindo” intensifies into severe tropical storm

(Eagle News) — “Dindo” has intensified into a severe tropical storm.

The Philippine Atmospheric Geophysical and Astronomical Services Administration said the storm, however, has no direct impact on the country, as the center of “Dindo” was estimated  475 kilometers north northeast of Basco, Batanes, packing maximum sustained winds of up to 95 kilometers per hour near the center and gustiness of up to 115 kilometers per hour, and moving northwestward at 15 kilometers per hour.

Tonight through tomorrow evening, however, occasional rains (light to moderate with at times heavy) will be experienced over Batanes and Babuyan Islands due to the southwest monsoon.

A gale warning is in effect over the northern and western seaboards of Northern Luzon and the western seaboards of Central Luzon.

Sea travel is risky over these areas due to rough to very rough seas (2.5 to 4.5 m).

Those with small seacraft are advised to take precautionary measures while venturing out over the other seaboards of Luzon due to moderate to rough seas.
