DILG vows to pursue admin raps vs 26 winning “narco-politicians”

(Eagle News)–The Department of the Interior and Local Government has vowed to file charges against the 26 alleged narco-politicians who won in the May 13 polls.

“Kahit na pinalad silang manalo, tuloy pa rin ang administrative cases laban sa kanila.  Hindi pa rin sila makakalusot kung sila ay mapapatunayang sangkot talaga sa iligal na droga,” Interior Secretary Eduardo Año said.

According to the DILG, the 26 were part of the 37 alleged narco-politicians who ran in the polls.

The 37, for its part, is part of the 46  politicians  who were charged by the DILG on suspicion they were engaged in the illegal drug trade.

Año said the electoral defeat of some of those charged was already a “substantial victory” for them.

“The purpose of President Duterte in releasing the names was to inform the public of the local officials who are linked to the drug trade,” he said.
