DFA: Remains of Filipino killed in Australia to be repatriated

(Eagle News)–The remains of a Filipino who was killed in Australia will be repatriated soon.

The Department of Foreign Affairs did not identify the Filipino who died in Wagga Wagga, New South Wales, but media reports identified the same as Mhelody Polan Bruno.

A man has been charged in connection with the death of Bruno, reports said.

According to the DFA, Bruno’s remains will be brought back to the Philippines “once the relevant reports and local requirements are completed”

It said it was, through its Office of the Undersecretary for Migrant Workers’ Affairs and the Philippine Consulate General in Sydney, also  “actively monitoring developments” on the case.

“DFA OUMWA and the Consulate General stand ready to provide further assistance, if needed,” the DFA said.
