
(Eagle News)–There have been no latest reports of additional COVID-19 deaths among overseas Filipinos, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Friday, Sept. 18.
The DFA said the death toll due to COVID-19 among Filipinos abroad then remains at 777.
The Middle East and Africa still had the most deaths, with 496, followed by the Americas with 178, Europe with 98, and the Asia Pacific region with eight.
Twenty-five new confirmed cases pushed the total to 10385, with the Middle East and Africa still with the most cases.
It was followed by Europe with 1173 cases, the Asia Pacific region with 1353 cases, and the Americas with 807.
“Moreover, (Friday’s) report from Africa also raises the number of countries with Filipino COVID-19 patients to 78,” the DFA said.
Fifteen new COVID-19 recoveries increased the total to 6593.
The Middle East and Africa still had the most recoveries, with 4230, followed by the Asia Pacific region with 1018, Europe with 883, and the Americas with 462.
“The DFA personnel in our foreign service posts remain steadfast in partnering with local health authorities and agencies in ensuring that the Filipino communities abroad adhere to the preventive measures against the COVID-19 pandemic, and commit to tirelessly attending to the needs of affected Filipinos, whenever possible,” the DFA said.
