DFA: No Filipino hurt in onslaught of Typhoon “Jebi” in Japan

(Eagle News) — No Filipino was hurt in the onslaught of Typhoon Jebi in Japan, the Department of Foreign Affairs said on Wednesday, Sept. 5.

In a statement, the DFA said the Philippine Embassy in Tokyo and the Philippine Consulate General in Osaka have not received any reports of Filipinos being among the 10 fatalities and 300 injured after Japan’s most powerful typhoon  in 25 years struck the Asian country.

Nevertheless, the DFA said the embassy and the consulate “continue to monitor the typhoon and are checking on the situation of the 280,000-strong Filipino Community to determine if there were any of them adversely affected.”

“The Embassy and the Consulate are ready to provide assistance to affected kababayan, if any,” the DFA said.
