DepEd: No classes in public schools on Jan. 2, 2019

(Eagle News)—-There will be no classes in public schools in the country on Jan. 2.

The Department of Education made the announcement in a memorandum dated Dec. 19.

According to Education Secretary Leonor Briones, the suspension of classes in all public elementary and high schools was in line with  Memorandum Circular No. 54 issued by Malacanang suspending work in executive offices on the same day.

She said the suspension of classes in private schools was left to the discretion of school administrators.

Classes in state universities and colleges have already been suspended on Jan. 2.
