(Eagle News)–If Senator Ronald dela Rosa is right, Lt. Gen. Archie Gamboa, who acted as officer-in-charge of the Philippine National Police following Oscar Albayalde’s resignation, is the new PNP chief.

“…To my mistah Chief PNP Archie Gamboa…. Inagahan ko na,” Dela Rosa said in his welcoming remarks at the 27th Defense and Sporting Arms show on Thursday, Nov. 14.

President Rodrigo Duterte has yet to formally appoint a PNP chief.

Apart from Gamboa, Interior Secretary Eduardo Año earlier recommended deputy chief for operations Lt. Gen. Camilo Cascolan and chief of the directorial staff Major General Guillermo Eleazar.

Albayalde stepped down as PNP chief following allegations he intervened in the cases of the 13 policemen behind an irregular drug raid in Pampanga in 2013. Mar Gabriel
