Death toll in 6.1-magnitude Luzon quake rises to 16

(Eagle News)–The death toll in the 6.1-magnitude quake that struck Luzon on Monday, April 23, has risen to 16.

The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said of the fatalities, five lost their lives at Chuzon Supermarket in Porac, Pampanga while seven from other parts of Porac.

Two died in Lubao, Pampanga; one in Angeles, Pampanga; and one in San Marcelino, Zambales, the NDRRMC said.

The NDRRMC said 81 people were injured, while 14 were missing in Central Luzon.

The 6.1-magnitude quake hit San Felipe, Zambales at 5:11 p.m.

This was followed by a 6.5-magnitude earthquake in Eastern Samar the day after.
