(Eagle News) — Senator Leila de Lima on Wednesday, June 19, slammed President Rodrigo Duterte over his stance in the Recto Bank incident that saw a Chinese vessel hitting a Filipino fishing boat and abandoning it.
“Yan ang problema. Pagdating sa China, consistent siya, naduduwag siya,” De Lima said in a brief ambush interview at Branch 34 of the Metropolitan Trial Court, where she attended a hearing on her disobedience to summons case.
Asked if she would attend Duterte’s State of the Nation Address in July, De Lima said: “Of course not.”
Earlier, President Duterte told the Navy to “stay out” of the Recto Bank incident, noting that it was a “little maritime incident” that should not be made worse.
He said he would issue a statement on the matter as soon as the results on a probe into the incident were released.
