De Lima flies to US

(Eagle News)– Senator Leila De Lima flew to United States (US) on Sunday (December 11) despite a lookout bulletin issued to her by the Department of Justice (DOJ).

She is set to receive an award in the US, and speak at the Annual Conference on Cultural Diplomacy in Berlin, Germany after.

The senator will be abroad until Dec. 22.

A lookout bulletin was filed against her in connection with the alleged proliferation of illegal drugs at the New Bilibid Prison during her time as Secretary of Justice.

Since the complaint is not yet with the courts, the DOJ issued a travel clearance for De Lima.

De Lima has assured she will return to the country.

“There is, however, nothing to worry about as I will surely return, along with my staff who will be with me during these foreign visits,” De Lima said.
