Commission on Appointments confirms nomination of Madrigal as AFP chief

Appointments of 9 others also confirmed

(Eagle News) — The Commission on Appointments on Wednesday, Jan. 30, confirmed the appointments of several individuals, including that of General  Benjamin Madrigal Jr. as Armed Forces of the Philippines chief.

Also confirmed were Brigadier General Virgilio Bartolome, Lt. General Noel Clement and seven officials of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The seven DFA officials were:

  • Leah Basinang-Ruiz as Ambassador to the Republic of Poland with concurrent jurisdiction over Ukraine, Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania
  • Alex Garcia Chua as Ambassador to Republic of Kenya with concurrent jurisdiction over Burundi, Union of the Comoros, Congo, Malawi, Rwanda, Federal Republic of Somalia, United Republic of Tanzania, Republic of Uganda and South Sudan, and as permanent representative to the United Nations Environmental Programme and United Nations Human Settlements
  • Ma. Theresa B. Dizon-Devega as Ambassador to the Federal Republic of Germany
  • Raul Hernandez as Ambassador to the Republic of Turkey with concurrent jurisdiction over Georgia and the Republic of Azerbaijan.
  • Leo Herrera-Lim as Ambassador to the Kingdom of Denmark
  • Jesus Santos Domingo as Ambassador to New Zealand including Cook Islands with concurrent jurisdiction over the Republic of Fiji, the Kingdom of Tonga, and the Independent State of Samoa
  • Henry Sicad Bensurto as Chief of Mission, Class I.
