Comelec: Proclamation of winning Senate, party-list candidates may take place on Tuesday, May 21

(Eagle News)–The Commission on Elections sees the proclamation of winning Senate  and party-list bets on Tuesday, May 21.

Comelec spokesperson James Jimenez made the remark in a press conference on Monday, May 20, with only a few Certificates of Canvass left to be counted exactly a week after the May 13 polls.

Jimenez said 1,050,681 votes from Isabela province are expected tonight.

The National Board of Canvassers also has yet to canvass COCs from Isabela, Japan,  Saudi Arabia, Washington DC in the US and Abuja in Nigeria.

According to Jimenez, the proclamation of winning party-list candidates is expected on Tuesday morning, while that of winning Senate bets in the evening.

“…I think at this point, it’s a pretty sure bet that we’re going to have the proclamation tomorrow,” he said.

As of Monday, May 20, reelectionist Senator Cynthia Villar continued to lead the Senate race, followed by another reelectionist senator, Grace Poe.

In third place so far was Bong Go.

No Otso Diretso Senate bet has made it to the winning circle.
