COMELEC defends decision to extend deadline

QUEZON City, Philippines – Commission on Elections (COMELEC) spokesman James Jimenez defended the officials of the commission from the allegations of netizens that the COMELEC officials, particularly COMELEC Chairman Andres Bautista, were paid by the Liberal Party to approve their request for extension of the deadline of submission of the Statement of Contributions and Expenses.

Jimenez said that netizens should present evidence to back their claims. It should be noted that Bautista voted against the extension of the deadline of the submission of SOCE.
