CIDG files illegal possession of firearms raps vs Daraga, Albay Mayor Baldo

(Eagle News)—-The Criminal Investigation and Detection Group on Wednesday, Jan. 24, filed charges for illegal possession of firearms against Daraga, Albay Mayor Carlwyn Baldo.

The charges were filed a day after he was arrested following the police’s discovery of  two .45 cal. pistols, a magazine for an uzi, eight live ammunition for a  .45 pistol, and  live ammunition for an M16 in his house in Albay.

The police also confiscated Baldo’s white Isuzu Alterra.

The charges for illegal possession were apart from the murder and frustrated murder charges filed against him and six others in connection with the killing of Rep. Rodel Batocabe and his bodyguard, and the injuries sustained by several others in that attack in December last year.

The police had tagged Baldo, who was seeking reelection in the midterm elections, as the mastermind in Batocabe’s killing.

Batocabe had announced plans to run for mayor of Daraga.

Hours after his arrest, Baldo was rushed to the hospital after he allegedly hyperventilated and his blood pressure shot up.
