Carlwyn Baldo posts bail in Batocabe slay case

(Eagle News)–Former Daraga, Albay mayor Carlwyn Baldo, who has been charged with the killing of Ako Bicol party-list Rep. Rodel Batocabe in 2018, has posted bail.

Baldo, who was also charged with the killing of Batocabe ‘s security escort, reportedly posted P8 million in property bond for his temporary liberty.

The court had allowed him to post bail, noting that the prosecution had failed to prove he should not be granted temporary liberty.

The court noted that the shells found in the scene did not match Baldo’s firearms, among others.

The police had said Baldo had ordered Batocabe killed after the then-congressman announced his plans to run for Daraga mayor, a post Baldo was planning on seeking again in the 2019 elections.
