Caloocan locals lead rites on Bonifacio Day

(Eagle News)– A wreath-laying ceremony was held at the Bonifacio Monument in Caloocan City to celebrate the 153rd birthday of Andres Bonifacio on Wednesday (November 30).

The program began with the raising of the Philippine flag followed by the Pledge of Allegiance to the Philippine Flag.

Attendees then offered flowers to the monument. President Rodrigo Duterte and the local government of Caloocan City sent flowers to the event.

The event was led by several Caloocan City officials including Mayor Oscar Malapitan, Rep. Along Malapitan and Rep. Edgar Erice.

Descendants of Bonifacio also attended the event.

Bonifacio, born November 30, 1863, was one of the founders of the Kataas-taasang, Kagalanggalangang Katipunan ng mga Anak ng Bayan (KKK) who fought the Spaniards during the last decade of their rule.

Bonifacio was dubbed as “the Father of the Philippine Revolution.”
