(Eagle News) — The Commission on Appointments on Wednesday confirmed the nomination of Leonor Briones as Education Secretary.
Last month, Vitaliano Aguirre II was confirmed by the powerful congressional body despite opposition from Senator Antonio Trillanes IV.
Only recently, Paulyn Ubial, Rafael Mariano, Gina Lopez and Judy Taguiwalo of the health, agrarian reform, environment and social welfare departments, respectively, were bypassed by the CA.
Last year, 14 secretaries successfully hurdled the powerful CA in the first 6 months of President Rodrigo Duterte’s appointment.
