(Eagle News)—A block of cocaine was found floating off Basco, Batanes on Tuesday, police said.
Authorities said the cocaine was found by a fisherman off the Naidi Light House at 3:15 p.m.
In an interview over GMA 7’s dzbb, Batanes Provincial Police director Colonel Merwin Quarteros said the cocaine was wrapped in layers of plastic.
The street value of the illegal drugs has yet to be determined, police said.
President Rodrigo Duterte has blamed international syndicates for the illegal drugs found off the country’s waters.
The Philippine National Police has vowed to shore up security near the shores following the recent discoveries.
