SC denies report on bar leakage, says scheduled bar exams to proceed

The Supreme Court clarified that there was no leakage in the 206 Bar Examinations, after its investigation, and said that the scheduled bar exams this year would proceed.

“The Office of the Bar chairperson has investigated the matter and has come to the conclusion that the questions remain confidential before the scheduled exams,” said Supreme Court spokesperson Theodore Te.

“The findings show that there is no truth to any of these unsubstantiated social media rumors,” he said.

Associate Justice Presbitero Velasco Jr., the 2016 bar examination chair, also said that examinations in commercial and criminal laws will not be re-administered.

“There is no iota of truth to these statements. These unfounded reports that are being irresponsibly circulated in social media only undermine the efforts of the Bar Chairperson to safeguard the confidentiality and integrity of the Bar exams,” Velasco said in a statement.

High court spokesman Atty. Te said that Justice Velasco is requesting the help of the public to refrain from circulating these rumors so as not to add more stress and anxiety to the examinees.

“He (Justice Velasco) requests the help of the public not to add more stress and anxiety to the examinees,” Te said in a press conference.

There are 6,831 candidates in the ongoing 2016 bar examination, only 3,317 of which are new candidates.
