Authorities eyeing to resume partial operations at Clark airport on Wednesday, April 24

(Eagle News)–The Clark International Airport Corporation is eyeing to resume partial operations at the airport on Wednesday, April 24.

This was after power in the airport was fully restored on Monday evening, and after  an assessment after the 6.1-magnitude quake showed the tower, apron, runways and taxiways were structurally sound.

“The good news is that the tower can be operated, there was no substantial damage. Wala ring problema sa road surface ng airports,” CIAC President Jaime Melo said.

According to Melo, passengers who were stranded because of the quake will be prioritized after partial operations resume.

So far, the Clark Development Corporation  has designated temporary shelters for travelers and tourists who were affected.

These temporary shelters include the Training Center at HSD, the pavilion at Bicentennial Park, the Philippine Air Force Gym, and the Clark Parade Grounds.

The CDC said water and food are being given out in the shelters.

The clearing operations and repairs inside the departure area and terminal building are also ongoing.
