UPDATED: At least two killed, several hurt in NPA ambush in Eastern Samar — authorities

(Eagle News) — At least two, including a police officer, were killed and several others were hurt in what authorities said was an ambush by members of the New People’s Army in Eastern Samar.

A police report identified the policeman slain in the attack in Libutan in Borongan at 3 p.m. as Pat Rama.

The report said the other fatality was a female civilian.

Some of the injured were identified only by their surnames: Patrolmen Capioquan, Operario, Luterte and Sobrepena.

Nine other civilians–four male adults, three female adults and two minors—were also wounded, the report said.

According to the report, two improvised explosive devices first exploded in the boundary of Barangay Libuton and Barangay Hindang in Borongan City at 3 p.m., followed by gunfire.

Authorities are still probing the incident.
