Ateneo officials meet with both parties in bullying incident caught in viral video

(Eagle News)—-Both parties in the bullying incident in the Ateneo de Manila Junior High School that was caught in a now-viral video have met with school authorities.

Ateneo de Manila University President Ramon Villarin gave this update in a brief statement posted on the school’s Facebook page on Friday night.

According to Villarin, the Ateneo Junior High School Committee on Discipline has already also “heard” both parties involved.

The statement was silent, however, on whether the school authorities also met with the other bullied students seen in at least three other viral videos.

“The case shall be decided soonest, and this decision shared with the community,” Villarin said.

In the first viral video, an Ateneo de Manila Junior high school student was seen asking another to choose between “bugbog o dignidad.”

Hearing no answer, the bully went on to physically assault the student, who did not fight back.

In the three other viral videos that surfaced online eventually, the same bully was seen physically and verbally assaulting other students.

Ateneo has said it was conducting an investigation,  and has said it “will not hesitate to impose penalties of dismissal or even expulsion in cases of grave misconduct.”
