Based on initial investigation, the forward truck carrying the victims was plying the Dumalinao – Margosatubig semi-national highway on its way to Tabina when driver Edgar Montajis Basillote lost control of the vehicle that ended up crossing over to the opposite lane to a drainage, and crashing into the fence.

Because of the impact, two people were dead on the spot.

Four others were rushed to the hospital where they were declared dead.

One of the passengers, Basilisa Albaño, said the group had just attended the wedding of her relative in Buug, Zamboanga Sibugay and were on their way home to Tabina when the tragedy struck.

Authorities are looking into the possibility the incident was caused by a road left slippery by the heavy rains at that time. Ferdinand Libor
