At least three people were injured and around P15 million worth of properties were destroyed in a fire that engulfed a toy warehouse in Pasig City on Tuesday night.

The blaze struck the  warehouse of Prime Rich Global owned by Myrna Tangyao on Jenny’s Avenue in Barangay Rosario at 7:20 p.m.

Authorities have yet to determine the cause of the blaze, but residents said it could have been started by children playing with  fire in the first place.

The blaze–which reached the fifth alarm—quickly spread to adjacent structures, prompting residents to move to save as much as they could from their homes.

“Dito po kami, hakutan na po kami, takbuhan ng takbuhan…Kasi dito po kami sa eskinita, ang lakas po ng apoy..,” Gloria Diaz, a resident in the area, said.

At least three people were injured in the process, and were rushed to the hospital for treatment.

Fire Supt. Reynaldo Lorenzo, district 4 director, said the fact that there were too many people in the area made it difficult for firemen to put out the fire immediately.

He said this was apart from the narrow streets in the area.

The blaze was put out over five hours later, after destroying 40 houses, and leaving 120 families homeless.
