At least 25 dead due to Typhoon “Ompong”

(Eagle News)–At least 25 people have been reported dead following the onslaught of Typhoon “Ompong” in the country.

Presidential Political Adviser Francis Tolentino said in a radio interview on Sunday, Sept. 16, that  of the fatalities, 20 were from the Cordillera Administrative Region, four from Nueva Vizcaya, and one from the Ilocos Region.

The Philippine National Police lists 20 people who were injured from the CAR.

Of the 20 injured, two were from Baguio, seven from Benguet, three from Kalinga, three from the Mt. Province, and five from Ifugao, the PNP said.

The PNP said 13 were also missing in the CAR.

Tolentino said those reported missing included a TV5 crew sent to cover the landfall of Typhoon “Ompong” in Cagayan.

According to Tolentino, Romel Lopez and his cameraman and assistant cameraman were last seen in Santa Ana, Cagayan, based on a report from the National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council.

President Rodrigo Duterte is slated to visit areas devastated by “Ompong” on Sunday, Sept. 16.
