At least 12 Abu Sayyaf bandits killed in clashes with military in Sulu

(Eagle News)—At least 12 Abu Sayyaf bandits were killed in several clashes with the military on Thursday, April 11, in Sulu.

The Western Mindanao Command said   the first clash was between the group led by Radullan Sahiron and Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan and the 32nd Infantry in Sitio Bud Taming, Barangay Panglayahan, Patikul.

Past 3 p.m., members of the 1st Scout Ranger Battalion engaged 80 Abu Sayyaf members led by Hatib Hajan Sawadjaan and Almujer Yadah in Sitio Kan-isnain, Barangay Kabbon Takas.

Members of the 3rd Scout Ranger Company, 1st Scout Ranger Battalion also clashed with 10 bandits in Sitio Tambang of same barangay, while members of the 32nd Infantry clashed with another group of Abu Sayyaf bandits still in Sitio Tambang, Barangay Kabbon Takas.

The Wesmincom said five from the government side were wounded.

“I commend the troops of the (Joint Task Force) Sulu for the recent accomplishments,”  Lieutenant General Arnel Dela Vega, Wesmincom chief, said.

“The merging of the enemy groups from different sub-leaders only shows that we are gaining grounds and they are getting weaker,” he added.
