Arroyo co-accused in PCSO plunder case acquitted

(Eagle News) — A co-accused of former President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo in  a case over the alleged misuse of the Philippine Charity Sweepstakes Office P366-million confidential and intelligence funds has been acquitted.
This after the Sandiganbayan First Division granted Maria Fatima Valdes’ demurrer to evidence, which sought the dismissal of the case because of the prosecution’s allegedly weak evidence.
In July last year, Arroyo was also acquitted of the charge.
In acquitting her, the Supreme Court cited the “insufficiency of evidence” of the prosecution.
