Authorities arrested on Wednesday night a Philippine Army official who allegedly moonlights as a drug pusher.

Apart from 2nd Lt. Hamel Abubakar Samsuddin of the 9th Infantry Division’s 83rd Infantry Battalion, arrested in the buy-bust operation launched by members of the Quezon City Police District  were his live-in partner, Aslimah Aliba,  and one Mohair Masicuin.

According to QCPD director Chief Supt. Guillermo Eleazar, the operation in Mapayapa Village, Barangay Pasong Tamo, at 10 pm. was organized based on information provided by drug suspects previously arrested by the police.

He said after sensing they were dealing with operatives, Samsuddin and his cohorts fled on board a sport utility vehicle, but they were cornered in the North Fairview area.

Recovered from the suspects were a sachet containing 25 grams of suspected methamphetamine hydrochloride.

Also recovered were the P60,000 marked money used in the buy-bust operation, two cal. 45 pistols, an M16 rifle and a hand grenade.

Samsuddin admitted he was into illegal drug activities, but denied that he was a pusher.

He said he was only the recipient of the illegal drugs coming from the supplier.

“This only shows na ang problema sa droga, apektado ang lahat ng organization. Mahalaga na kaming mga nagpapatupad ng batas ay malinis at walang involvement sa droga,” Eleazar said.

Charges for violation of the Comprehensive Dangerous Drugs Act and for illegal possession of firearms and explosives will be filed against the suspects, who are detained by the police.
