MANILA, Feb. 6 (PNA) — Applicants for driver’s license renewal were surprised to see President Benigno S. Aquino III queuing up at the Land Transportation Office (LTO) on Tayuman St. in Manila Thursday morning.

They took the opportunity to greet the President and even posed for souvenir photos with him.

President Aquino arrived at the LTO district office at around 10 a.m. to renew his driver’s license two days before his birthday on Saturday. He is turning 54.

He was clad in a barong with a yellow ribbon.

He lined up along with other applicants since he has, since 2010, rejected the “wang-wang” mentality, a catchphrase he used to describe some officials’ propensity to abuse power, especially on the streets.

Transportation Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya and newly- promoted Presidential Communications Operations Office Undersecretary Renato Marfil accompanied the President during the renewal process.

The President finished renewing his license at past 11 a.m. and immediately left to attend to other engagements. (source: Philippine News Agency)
