(Eagle News)–The police are in possession of pictures that could help them identify the gunmen in the killing of Rep. Rodel Batocabe in Albay.
This is according to Interior Secretary Eduardo Año, who cited a report given to him by Regional Director Police Chief Supt. Arnel Escobal on Friday morning.
According to Año, based on Escobal, the pictures were “volunteered” to the police by some attendees of the gift-giving event in Daraga.
The police had said Batocabe was about to board his vehicle from the gift-giving activity when he was attacked on Saturday, Dec. 22.
His security escort, SP01 Orlando Diaz, was also killed.
“I am very positive na sooner maa-identify natin yung mastermind and ma-lolocate natin yung gunmen,” Año said.
Authorities have said the killing of Batocabe, who had announced plans to run for mayor of Daraga in 2019, was likely politically motivated.
President Rodrigo Duterte has increased the reward money for information leading to the arrest of the suspects to P50 million.
