Amid talk of leadership change in Senate, Lacson drafts reso to see how many support Sotto

(Eagle News)–Senator Panfilo Lacson has drafted a resolution that aims to find out how many senators are still backing Senate President Tito Sotto.

The move of Lacson, who made  the revelation in an interview over radio dzmm on Friday, May 31, came amid talk of a Senate leadership change with the 17th Congress slated to adjourn on June 7.

The 18th Congress, including incoming senators, will resume on July 22.

“Pero at least man lang malaman na natin sino ba sa inyo ang alanganin sa liderato ni SP Sotto dahil pa nag uusap-usap kami we’re one in saying na happy kaming lahat  sa liderato nya…” Lacson said.

Lacson made the remark after Senator-elect Imee Marcos said there was a move to install Senator Cynthia Villar as the  leader of the next Senate.

Villar has denied there was such a move, but said she would think about the Senate presidency if she was called into a meeting and offered the same.

Earlier, majority leader Juan Miguel Zubiri  said that at least 12 senators support Sotto.

He said this includes himself, Senate Pro-Tempore Ralph Recto, Senators  Richard Gordon, Cynthia Villar, Sonny Angara, Sherwin Gatchalian, Nancy Binay, Ping Lacson, Grace Poe, Lito Lapid and Joel Villanueva.
