“I categorically state that I am not involved on the Bikoy videos and has (sic) not conspired with anybody to produce such videos. I do not know Bikoy and have not met him ever,” Alejano said in a statement.
According to Alejano, a member of Magdalo that figured in the matrices that allegedly detailed the ouster plot against President Rodrigo Duterte and which were released on Wednesday, the administration’s allegations were “clearly false, malicious and irresponsible.”
He said he did not think Filipinos believed the government, noting that “Malacañang has a long history of of releasing unvalidated information to the public.”
“They even backtrack or change tune in the middle of the issue,” Alejano said.
Alejano said that the matrix was released to “destroy the image of the opposition before the electorate.”
“Do they feel threatened by us to resort to such ludicrous and cowardly acts? The opposition, or any other group, does not have to do anything to discredit or destabilize the administration. They are the ones who are destroying themselves,” he added.
Apart from the Magdalo group, the matrices linked the Liberal Party, some media outlets such as Rappler and Vera Files, and leftists such as Neri Colmenares to the supposed ouster plot.
They have denied the allegations.
