Albayalde: Vote-buying in May 13 elections “massive”

(Eagle News)–Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde on Monday, May 13, said vote buying in the May 13 elections has been “massive.”

“Nakikita natin is massive talaga yung vote-buying incidents, talagang kaliwa’t kanan,” he said in a press conference in Camp Crame.

According to Albayalde the 79 incidents of vote buying recorded so far involved 240 violators.

Of the 240, 213 were arrested while 10 are at large.

It was unclear if the figure included Quezon City mayoral bet Vicente “Bingbong” Crisologo, who was arrested together with his son on Sunday night because of alleged vote buying.

Crisologo has denied the allegations.

Voting for the May 13 elections started at 6 a.m. today and will end at 6 p.m., the Commission on Elections said.
