Albayalde: Policeman shot dead while plying Edsa was on Duterte’s drug watch list

(Eagle News)–The policeman who was shot dead along Edsa on Tuesday, March 26, was on President Rodrigo Duterte’s drug watch list, Philippine National Police Chief Oscar Albayalde said.

According to Albayalde, Senior Master Sergeant Solomon Cugay, who had been accused of recycling illegal drugs and of protecting drug personalities, however, had been cleared of any illegal drug activity for the past years.

Albayalde said the police were  still looking at possible motives behind  Cugay’s killing.

Cugay was plying Edsa southbound on board his motorcycle when he was shot by a still-unidentified gunman near Connecticut in San Juan around 3 p.m.

Seven empty shells and a 9-millimeter gun were found in the area.

The incident caused heavy congestion which spilled over to streets connecting to Edsa such as East Avenue.
