Albay police chief: Carlwyn Baldo to remain detained pending resolution of prosecution’s MR of grant of bail

(Eagle News)–Former Daraga, Albay Mayor Carlwyn Baldo will have to stay in detention despite posting an P8-million bail for his temporary liberty.

This is according to Col. Wilson Asueta, Albay police chief, who noted that the prosecution had filed a motion for reconsideration of the court’s decision to grant bail to the primary accused in the slay of Rep. Rodel Batocabe and of his security escort in 2018.

“(The) MR must be resolved first before Baldo could be released,” Asueta said.

Baldo posted an P8-million property bond for his provisional liberty.

The police had said Baldo had ordered Batocabe killed following the then-congressman’s announcement he would run for Daraga, Albay mayor in the 2019 elections.

The police said Baldo had been planning to seek reelection.
