AFP still has no plan to send ships to Scarborough shoal

MANILA, Philippines (Eagle News) — The Armed Forces of the Philippines has no plan to send patrol ships to Scarborough Shoal, according to its spokesman.

AFP Spokesman Brig. Gen. Restituto Padilla said that the Armed Forces is still in a “monitoring” mode and will not send any of its ships to the area.
The AFP also noted that Chinese authorities are not stopping Filipinos from fishing in the area.

“The AFP welcomes the recent development that have been monitored to be happening in the area and we hope this continues in the interest of all those who are getting their livelihood out of the area’, AFP Spokesman said.

Padilla said that they are still continuously monitoring and observing the situation in the Scarborough Shoal.

“Sa ngayon po ay hindi po tayo magpapadala ng barko­. Monitoring lang po tayo at hayaan po natin na ‘yung current conditions ang siyang nangyayari” Padilla said.
