AFP says chief of staff Santos has recovered from COVID-19

(Eagle News)–Armed Forces of the Philippines chief of staff Felimon Santos Jr. has recovered from the coronavirus disease 2019.

This was announced by the AFP in a statement from AFP spokesperson Brig. Gen. Edgard Arevalo.

“We are pleased to announce that AFP chief of staff Gen. Felimon Santos Jr. has been tested negative for COVID-19 following the test conducted by the Department of Health (DOH) and the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM). He is thereby deemed to have recovered although he has not experienced any of the symptoms of the infection ever since,” Arevalo said, referring to the second test the AFP chief took on April 5.

Arevalo thanked the public for their “continuing prayers and support accorded to the AFP chief and to every soldier, airman, sailor, and marine who tirelessly protect fellow Filipinos and the communities against COVID-19 and other threats to national well-being.”

He also urged the public to continue implementing social distancing measures, to stay home, use masks and observe proper hygiene.

Santos was diagnosed with COVID-19 on March 27.

His quarantine ends on April 10.

The Philippines has so far confirmed over 3000 COVID-19 cases.
