After nine months of serving as the highest ranking officer of the Armed Forces of the Philippines, General Hernando Iriberri retires today on his 56th birthday. President Aquino himself will lead the testimonial review and change of command ceremonies in Camp Aguinaldo this morning.

Irreberi assumed the office of Chief of Staff last July 2015 replacing Gen. Gregorio Pio Catapang. Meanwhile, AFP Vice Chief of Staff Lt. Gen. Glorioso Miranda will replace Iriberri as acting Chief of Staff. Miranda will remain in an acting capacity until the next President appoints a Chief of Staff.

AFP assures the public that the change in leadership will not adversely affect their preparations for the coming elections as it has been already in place months before the change of command.
